Heimat Herd

Fine cuisine from the region

Recipes by Kay Masan & Jochen Mönnig

When you love something, you want to share it with others – this was the idea behind the book concept developed by Forsthaus chefs Kay Masan and Jochen Mönnig, which also inspired Adelheid and Juliane Brüning, members of a family of passionate farmers with a deep connection to nature who have been running the Heiligenberg forest lodge for 20 years. ‘We are really proud of this cookbook and our joint effort,’ explains Kay Masan. So if you too would like to bring a little piece of culinary excellence from the Heiligenberg forest lodge to your own table, then this lovingly designed cookbook is just the thing for you.

Heiligenberg - Geschichte und Geschichten

Results of a search for clues

By Hans J. Wachholz

Interested visitors, new residents and long-time locals often wish for a book that spans the arc from the first people who settled in Heiligenberg, through the castle and monastery era, to the recreational area of today. Unaware of the effort that awaited me, I accepted this assignment in 2012. Five years on, it is still not quite finished. However, on the occasion of the 2018 anniversary of ‘800 years since the founding of Heiligenberg Monastery’, it is possible to take stock and see that hidden beneath a heavy cloak of oblivion lies the exciting history of a place that has been important to the region for thousands of years, but whose traces have been almost completely erased. What historians refer to as damnatio memoriae (erasure of memory) clearly applies here.

Von Wernigerode nach Heiligenberg

Heiligenberg Monastery / Mons Sanctae Mariae

By Bernd Ulrich Hucker

Little remains to bear witness to the magnificent past of the lost Premonstratensian monastery of Heiligenberg in Bruchhausen-Vilsen. As it did centuries ago, the ancient trees on the medieval ring wall surround the Heiligenberg forest lodge. There you can still find the old monastery well, the monastery mill and a healing spring, the Paterborn. But who were these Premonstratensians? How did they come to Bruchhausen? And what did they do here? This book reveals for the first time the secrets surrounding the exciting history of the Premonstratensians in Buchhausen-Vilsen.

Der Einfluss der Welfen auf Bruchhausens und Heiligenbergs bewegte Vergangenheit

An attempt to bring history to life

By Dr. Dr. Wolgang Griese

Did you know that tourism in the climatic health resort of Bruchhausen-Vilsen has its roots in the hunting tourism of the Dukes of Celle, and that today's tourist magnet ‘Heiligenberg’ was once the spiritual and intellectual centre of the region?

Did you know that there were times when the European aristocracy visited Bruchhausen to take part in the privileged row hunting in the Heiligenberg forests and to enjoy the baroque lifestyle in the Bruchhausen Castle, away from courtly etiquette in a rural setting?

Did you know that the famous white-born stallions, which became status symbols of the powerful of this world, were bred in Wegfischen Gestattet Mensen?

If not, you should read all about it in this book, which contains a wealth of background information and numerous images, graphics and maps to complement the text.

If you did, reading this book will certainly give you some ideas for further research that will make your view of history more colourful and detailed in one way or another.

innenwelten

The art of creating living spaces and harmony

Edition Interieur

The book ‘innenwelten’ (inner worlds) uses rich imagery to show how a guest house can be transformed into a little gem. As an extension of the Forsthaus Heiligenberg star hotel, the Rosenquartier was integrated into an existing overall concept and yet remains a unique treasure. The work of interior designer Hartmut Fricke is presented, from the initial task and concept to the masterful craftsmanship of the final product. In an entertaining, humorous and yet detailed manner, Bremen-based author Uwe Prieser describes a design history befitting this extraordinary location.
A book worth reading for anyone interested in interior design and design, for whom atmosphere is quality of life and who love sophisticated interiors.
